Guest Speaker Scheme

As part of its ongoing commitment to continuous teacher training, ACEIA has developed a Guest Speaker Scheme. The scheme involves having teachers from ACEIA schools giving workshops as guest speakers at other member schools.

Teachers offering their services as guest speakers provide information about themselves and their session(s) by completing the Guest Speaker Session Form. As well as giving some biographical information about the speakers and a summary of the session, the session form also contains information about who the session is aimed at (teachers with a certain degree of experience, teachers with certain age groups, etc.) and includes a list of the equipment the speaker requires (if any).

The list of speakers and the sessions they offer is posted below.

ACEIA member schools can choose a session from this list and contact the prospective speaker (through his/her Director of Studies). The host school and guest speaker agree on arrangements for the session, including the date, time and duration of the session, as well as the fee and expenses to be paid. While there are no strict minimum and maximum lengths for sessions, ninety-minute sessions are recommended. However, individual schools and speakers are free to discuss any variations. Similarly, the ‘suggested’ fee for a ninety-minute session is sixty euros (plus transport expenses*), but speakers and host schools can come to alternative arrangements at their own discretion. It is recommended that details of the arrangements be confirmed in writing (by e-mail, for instance) to avoid any misunderstandings.

If you have any queries about the scheme, please contact Aidan O’Toole at aidan@btlink.net or at 957-491535

* Receipts for transport expenses should be provided by the guest speaker.
